Catch the train at Driving Creek Railway and Pottery and do the 1 hour round trip and see magnificent views of Coromandel. Explore the 309 Road, and maybe stop at the Mussel Kitchen for lunch, or a snack or picnic at The Waterworks. Walk to the top of the Castle Rock or visit the Kauri trees and the Wairau waterfalls and have a swim in the pond below or visit the 309 Honey Shop. Or just relax in Coro town at one of the cafés or restaurants.

New Zealand's only narrow-gauge mountain railway along with a working pottery and wildlife sanctuary. The 1 hour return trip on the innovatively designed trains takes you through replanted native kauri forest and includes 2 spirals, 3 short tunnels, 5 reversing points and several large viaducts as it climbs up to the mountain top terminus. The train ride is one of the most popular in New Zealand.

The Coromandel Coastal Walkway offers the chance to take in the full beauty and solitude of the remote upper Coromandel Peninsula. The walk takes 3-4 hours one way or 7 hours return. Passing beneath the shadow of brooding Mt Moehau, the track traverses pristine bush, farmland and coastline.
